Synopsis

It is very evident that in recent years, artificial intelligence, also known as AI, has been making some modifications in most social sectors, especially in education; however, along with the increased link and integration of AI tools in the educational sector, there are indications that there is little adaptation and knowledge about how these technologies relate to the academic performance of information technology students. (Tuomi, 2019). This chapter examines the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the academic performance of students in the Information Technologies educational program at the Technological University of Southeast Veracruz. The main objective was to establish the relationship between the use of tools related to artificial intelligence and the academic performance of higher education students. It is important to mention that a research design was used. To this end, it is important to mention that a correlational research design was used, applying surveys and questionnaires to students at the mentioned level to obtain the corresponding information on the use and perception of tools such as chatbots and intelligent tutoring systems. Similarly, a comparative analysis was also conducted between students who use AI tools and those who do not, supported by statistical software such as SPSS and R for data processing. The results obtained establish that the integration of AI tools can significantly improve academic performance when used appropriately and for specific educational purposes. In conclusion, AI represents valuable opportunities to enhance teaching-learning processes, primarily in technological areas, as long as it is used and integrated responsibly and productively, with the necessary foundations and principles.
