Synopsis

Active methodologies are participatory, comprehensive, and flexible processes that enhance teaching and learning by promoting strengths, opportunities for improvement, feedback, and self-assessment among students and teachers. Intelligent assistants for formative assessment, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini (formerly Bard), and Microsoft’s Copilot, are increasingly integrated into educational contexts. For this study, a mixed-method approach was applied, combining surveys and interviews directed at school communities from public institutions in Mexico City. The use of digital platforms for gamification and adaptive learning was evaluated as part of teaching practices. The results revealed that formative assessment within active methodologies strengthens student autonomy, classroom integration, and academic performance. Likewise, implementation requires rigorous teacher planning and mastery of instruments such as rubrics, checklists, and digital portfolios, which complement direct observation of performance. In conclusion, active methodologies and mixed assessment foster a pedagogical transformation toward meaningful and equitable learning, centered on the participation and commitment of both teachers and students. It is recommended to expand teacher training in the use of digital tools and to ensure access to technologies that promote a more inclusive and dynamic education.
