Chapter 10 - Project-based learning to develop entrepreneurial skills in high school
Synopsis
As part of meaningful learning, project-based learning is an active methodology that challenges high school students to propose solutions to current problems and challenges, as well as to articulate related activities, tools, and skills, with the aim of applying them to the real world beyond the academic environment. By integrating entrepreneurship into these projects, students develop essential skills for strengthening teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, decision-making, and more. The objective of this study is to identify the entrepreneurial skills developed by upper secondary education students (EMS) through Project-Based Learning (PBL). The research is non-experimental and descriptive, as the variables and cases have already occurred. According to its temporality, the study is cross-sectional because it identifies students with similar characteristics and the variables that allowed them to complete the projects. The results indicate that students fulfilled the methodology, enabling them to participate in state, national, and international meetings and competitions, as well as to continue their projects in higher education or as a form of self-employment for their own economic growth and that of their family. In conclusion, students applied the project-based learning methodology, developed entrepreneurial skills, and generated an entrepreneurship project with optimal qualities for their development.
