Synopsis

Since the 1990s, digitalization has transformed design education by providing immediate access to creative resources, but it has also generated challenges such as software dependency and the loss of manual skills. The aim of this study was to analyze the advantages, disadvantages, and chall enges that technology poses in the training of designers, with emphasis on its impact on creativity and critical thinking. To this end, a qualitative and exploratory approach was applied through a literature review and case analysis of design education programs. The results showed that digital tools optimize time and foster collaboration, although they also homogenize outputs and weaken fundamental skills. In conclusion, the study highlighted the need to integrate technology consciously, balancing digital and analog practices to ensure comprehensive training that enables designers to face liquid modernity and the constant changes of the contemporary world.
